Joon Kim
Joon Kim works with sound as a material. Based on geological studies, he has continued to observe and explore sounds coming from specific places, reconfiguring the sound recordings in the form of archives to deliver soundscape works. The beginning of such attempt was his initial project Feedback Field (2012), driven by his interest in historic and social context of the unified Germany whose industrial development varies greatly by region. This work triggered his fascination in Acoustic Ecology, studying the impact of invisible, inaudible electromagnetic waves of industrial structures on human beings.

Field Notes: Memories of Mountain (2018)
Field Notes: Memories of Mountain is a compilation of sounds and images collected by the artist while touring the Jeolla-do region where he spent his childhood. He travelled around unknown mountains to gather images and sounds that evoke a pang of nostalgia for his home town. Then, he used these nostalgic collections to represent the memories of the past in the present, taking the audience back to the memory lane of childhood.
