Into the flesh along the blue cut, as in old days
go out as you got up
get up and forget to fall
the hoop, the toothless jaw of the event.
Stare, it becomes, to be out of oblivion.
Hop, if they say, if nobody says hop
into the lava, into the river, into the boat, into the fire
heel on soil
slip, breaststroke to the lake of feast
to the bouncy float without a resistance
screen, without extra life-kit,
without handcuffs and inventing
going upstream
- Ksenia Kononenko (Ксенией Кононенко)
The Sun Has a Musky Taste in a Salty Sand (2020)
In collaboration with a poet and psychoanalyst Ksenia Kononenko, Kirill Makarov embodied a virtual game space where media technology, art, and poetry meet. In the game world of post-utopia, he connects poetic and visual languages and on-line and off-line communication through displacement and condensation. By placing objects of everyday experience in "Games" space and working on different types of language products, we are guided to engage in virtual space mechanics of the ever-changing world. Writing poems, building the virtual world and making paintings have been processed simultaneously. Paintings which are part of the virtual world also support you to connect with the reality, while poetry function as the semantic transmitter in between. The goal of the project is to create a GAME, not in the ordinary sense of the game as active gameplay. Makarov and Kononenko make the inconstant and variable world of the game to volumize the space for each player creating the world as free as possible.

The exhibition -13.690353, 18.834137, 1638391.625000 held in Moscow from late 2019 to early 2020, consists of paintings, graphics, and prints with the poetry of Ksenia Kononenko. The narratives of paintings are composed of the photographs, taken during meetings, walks, sudden events, and 3d-objects that were modulated of those photographs, arranged in the video game, and then placed on the canvases. Hence, the video game stays beyond the frame but turns out to be a meta-project affecting the whole series of works. The audience gets to have a subjective experience of presence, perceiving kinesthetic and non-kinesthetic sense while interacting with artworks. The cipher in the name of the show, which is the coordinates of the hidden objects outside the game's map, helps us to imagine things beyond the given world.
